My "back porch" is my kitchen, my favorite room in the house. Come on in, the coffee is fresh, and I just made a pitcher of sweet tea. The cookies will be out in a minute. I have over 40 years of recipes to share with you, along with my opinion on everything. Oh my, you are right, it is cocktail time. What can I get you? Of course I can make you a Mint Julep! Stop by anytime, something is always cooking, and the back door is never locked.

Bon Appetit, Y'all

Feel Good Friday- I Love Blogging

For years I always thought I was a fairly organized person, however since I started my blog, not so much. There always seems to be a thin layer of dust on everything, a load of laundry that needs to be done, closets and drawers that need cleaning out. You get the idea. But that seems so unimportant when I have so much to tell you, that I know you couldn't live without knowing.

It's not so much what I want to tell you, but I want to hear what you are doing also. Who's cooking what today, who's making soap, what are you reading, what have the kids done today, who' s been on vacation. It takes a lot of time to keep up with everyone. I love every minute of it.

We had a terrible wind storm on Tuesday and I lost telephone service which meant no Internet for 12 hours. I was in a panic! Who cares that I was sleeping for 7 of those hours. I was worried I'd miss something.

It makes me feel good knowing you guys are out there sharing your life with me. Slide on over to The Girl Next Door Grows Up for more Feel Good Friday.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and see you next Friday for Turkey Bone Gumbo. Now that will make you feel good.

  1. Turkey Bone Gumbo - Just the name makes me feel good. In fact, it makes me want to break out a harmonica and write a song - The Turkey Bone Gumbo Blues. If I save this turkey bone it will be all because of you. I have been throwing them away the last few years because they just make me feel guilty and I've never actually made anything good out of them. But I will try again.

  2. Oh, and I often write about how much blogging has come to mean for me. You are one of the people I can't wait to hear about. Happy Turkey Day!

  3. Bev, I feel the same way. I actually worry a little when I don't hear from one of my "regulars."

I feel very fortunate that we have come to know each other through blogging and I really look forward to reading your blog and connecting with you. :)

  4. You are so right that blogging is addictive. Have a great Thanksgiving!

  5. Bev,
I agree with everything in your post. My computer is like my lifeline and when the internet goes down, I panic. I worry about my bloggy friends when they do not post for awhile, checked in with 2 last week and found one is caring for a sick relative and another is shutting down her blog completely because she was spending to much time at the computer.

It truly is an addiction, but for me a very good one!

  6. Oh yes, I totally understand how "Pretty Blog Land" becomes quite addictive. :-)

And I understand about not wanting to "miss anything."

And if someone who usually posts regularly, doesn't.... I worry.

    Etc. Etc. Etc.

And isn't it nice, that we have found this delicious thing called "Pretty Blog Land"? :-) And that it's now part of our lives?

Yes, even today, when Blogger is giving me *fits.* :-)

  7. I know exactly what you mean. I have taken a few blog-cations and I am always sad when I don't get around. Last week I missed FGF entirely :-(

  8. i know just what you mean...what did we ever do without blogging..i have met the nicest people and have been so newest thing for next year is upgrading my camera from a point and shoot...into an SLR...
blogging has also awakened a love of photography...i love seeing what everybody is cooking too...and YES!!!! Joyce is THE BEST. we have become REALLY good friends this year...i just love her and i have been wanting to make that rosemary's FINALLY raining so i am making it with some homemade soup !!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, my friend
    Kary and Teddy

  9. I enjoy reading about people but would be the boringest blogger around, so I'll just keep reading & commenting. Have a good weekend. You'll be the first to hear if I cook anything interesting!
