I had so much fun yesterday reading my cook books from Joyce. Yes, I read cook books, not just look at the recipes. White Trash Cooking by Ernest Matthew Mickler, is one of the funniest books ever.
I have never thought of any of my family or friends as "white trash". After reading this book I may have to re-visit that thought. How many times have I seen my brother do this very thing. I wonder if he knows it's a "white trash" thing? He does now!
High Calorie Pick-Me-Up
Pour a small bag of Tom's peanuts into a cold bottle of Pepsi. Turn it up and eat and drink at the same time.
This needs to be done in a bottle not a can so you can see how gross it looks.
I may have to try this!

ReplyDeletei would really like to see a photo of this!!! hahaha!!!
ReplyDeleteOh God -- this doesn't even sound the least bit healthy Bev! :)
ReplyDeleteI have heard of this! But never tried it.... speaking (respectfully) of White Trash I accidently tuned in to a very interesting show, don't know what channel... Bayou Billionaires... oh my what a fun show. These folks in Louisiana came into lots of money (tuned in to late to find out why they are so rich) and were invited to the Shreveport Country Club (which I did not think particularly fancy) but the entire Bayou Billionaire family, including their young-girl-seeking very old dad (think a Bayou Billionaire Hugh Hefner) arrived in a mottley motorcade for a tour and an interesting day with the Country Clubbers... The Bayou clan's matriarch's name is Kitten... LOVE IT!! I am a fan!!! Might need to get me some peanuts and a bottle of Pepsi. My days of drinking soda from cans are so over... Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis brought back memories of my college years when I took advantage of the Coke dispensing machine - not bottles, but crushed ice with Coke in a cup - and added the package of peanuts to the cup! This machine was on the ground floor of our dorm, and it was definitely worth the trip up and down two flights of steps!:-) Perhaps this was a habit that contributed to that "freshman 15" - those extra pounds it is estimated a college student might gain - but it was a delicious treat, sometimes even serving as "breakfast!"
ReplyDeleteThe Goatmother and Goatfather used to have 'White Trash Cooking'. It is funny. They particularly enjoyed the description of the grilled cheese sandwich. :)
ReplyDeleteI have totally had peanuts that way! lol Anyway, I have read about white trash cooking and I have to say that it happens around here a lot!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I've heard of this too, but never tried it. You know, it's never too late, right?
